According to published studies, it can’t be denied the great harm of alcohol and cigarettes to human health and life. Alcohol is one of the biggest factors causing traffic accidents. Furthermore, it is also the cause of diseases of internal organs , especially liver such as cirrhosis, steatohepatitis, liver cancer. Nowadays, the consumptions of alcohol in Viet Nam is at high level. Moreover, in the market appears a lot of false and smuggled alcohol made from chemicals. This doubled the harm of this “poisonous fluid”, which goes into our bodies everyday.
Alerted numbers
One big problem in the discussion is cigarettes. In the ingredient of smoke are thousands of harmful substances to human body, typically nicotine. The harm of cigarettes is incontrovertible. “Smoking causes cancer” is one of the slogans printed on cigarettes’ packs. However, cigarettes are still being used widely because of many reasons. One of them is price. A pack of cigarettes in Vietnam has a price range of several thousand to tens of thousands so it is easy to have a pack with 20 cigarettes. Someone smokes few while others can smoke even packs every day. Furthermore, smoke also does harm to non-smokers, especially pregnant women and children.
Being aware of this harmful effect, TBUMP Students’ Association’s office held the discussion to help everyone understand the harm of alcohol, cigarettes and gave numbers helping to alarm everyone. It also helped the students to have ways to prevent “the scythe of death”. Being students, especially future medical staff, we need to understand clearly and set up a propaganda for the community to minimize the harmful effects which are caused by them. The discussion had deep humanity, which is widely accepted and supported by students.
